Successful email marketing

By: Andy Tao

There are key features that you can follow in order to get the maximum potential out of your email marketing campaign. Some are more important then others so be sure not to make any mistakes that will severely damage the end results.

Do thorough research into the market you are trying to promote, identify the reason to be sending the email in the first place. This will make it easier making an effective email and make the outcome a bit more pleasant.

A major factor you must identify is the audience, make sure you target the email to people who will be genuinely interested. If you were promoting women’s health products then all of the men who receive the email will automatically discard as junk. By spending a little more time researching who you are sending the email to will save you time and money in the long run.

You should make a targeted email list which you may be able to use again in the near future for similar products. This will increase its success which is the aim of every email marketing campaign.

The next step is to actually create the email, make sure you proof read it to make sure it is 100% correct when it comes to grammar and spelling. A poorly written email will do you no favours, if you are not confident in writing your own email then it’s suggested that you pay a professional to write it. Make sure it’s short and to the point as many people would not like to read a huge amount of information before they even know what the email is about. Don’t use any words which people may not understand, keep it simple and readable. It’s always best to give the email to a number of people to give you constructive criticism in order to improve it.

When you’re describing the product make sure you highlight the best features that will entice people into buying it. Don’t give them any reasons to delete the email before they have read it by listing the bad features or any improvements.

The most important factor is to make sure you follow the rules of an email, don’t make it look like spam as many email providers will automatically direct it into the spam inbox which may never get seen by the user. This will be a complete waste if it was to happen.

In house SEO versus hiring an SEO company

By: Chris Diprose

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is very much a buzz phrase. Often companies looking to learn more about what SEO are baffled at how this new field of marketing can gain them an edge. Well it has been proven time and time again that it definitely can gain an edge over your competition. The problem a business has to assess is whether they should employ a specialist SEO Company or use existing resources within their respective IT Departments or Do It Yourself. This article explores the advantages and disadvantages of each.

In-house & Do It YourselfAdvantages: You have complete control. You can change things instantly. You will learn about the inner working of your website and also learn more about the Internet and how search engines work.

Disadvantages: It is a specialized field and attempting to do it delays the inevitable and allows your competition to gain an edge on you; also you may end up with more problems in the future by getting it wrong. You will need to have an intimate knowledge of your website, how it works, HTML and possibly any scripting languages that the website uses, like PHP. Also, you will need to buy some commercial tools to use, like WordTracker, WebPosition and SEO Elite. WordTracker allows you to effectively research Keywords, WebPosition allows you to track your websites ranking in the search results for given keyword phrases and SEO Elite allows you to track all links to your website. Purchasing these three necessary pieces of software will cost you around USD$900. Also, you will need to have a lot of time to read about SEO, take online courses, like StomperNet, listen to podcasts, like MrSEO podcast and read as much SEO material as you possibly can. For the StomperNet course you are looking at about USD$3000 and miscellaneous of books is likely to run up to another USD$1000. Total for In-house DIY, roughly USD$1500 to USD$4900. Not being experienced enough to know when and what to change. Not knowing how to link build effectively. Not having any time to study and learn enough to make the correct changes and modifications to your website - estimated at about 200 hours of study, learning and analyzing. As SEO takes time to see any results in the search engines it is important to not only learn the required knowledge to implement SEO but also give yourself the time to make tweaks and ongoing analysis. So to setup and configure an average website with 10 static pages it will take you probably 2 days and ongoing link building will be many, many countless days. Also, you need to take your time so that you do not overdo your SEO, spamming and stuffing keywords into pages as this can be as detrimental as not doing anything to the website in the first place.

Hiring an SEO CompanyAdvantages : You don’t have to use internal staff resources or alter the focus of your business. Hiring a specialized online marketing and SEO Company will mean you have instant access to experts in the field who have a wealth of knowledge and resources. An SEO Company will know the lay of the land without you having to learn what they already know to expert levels. The Online Marketing Company will be your best partner in working towards achieving your online Internet marketing objectives.

Disadvantages: Using an Expert SEO Company will cost you money. It is important to realize that even though you have hired a firm to implement your Search Engine Optimisation you will still need to work in consultation with them in order to market your website online correctly - explaining your internet marketing goals, objectives, deadlines and budgets. Do your research, look at the SEO Firm and its portfolio, case studies and history of successes, ensure it is a reputable firm and don't be scared to ask questions.

What to Look for in an SEO CompanyA decent and reliable SEO company will have a good reputation and a strong presence within the Online Marketing and SEO industry. When you start, I suggest searching in Google for "Online Marketing" or "SEO" within your country or region. Look at the potential SEO firm’s websites, their portfolios and take some notes. Give them a call and see if you can arrange a meeting at their office and in person to discuss details and gather more information. Discuss your situation and how you can best achieve your goals. Take note of their professional nature, their history, case studies and vision for your online presence and also ensure that you are happy with the professional and personal relationship you have with the company representatives as this will be an ongoing one.

While the advantages and disadvantages of optimizing your own website and employing an SEO Company are diverse I think it important to point out that no matter how good you think you are an SEO firm will always be better at SEO. So if you really want to see results, you have very little time then hiring an SEO company is the only way to go. If you have time and some website expertise then you may be willing to put in the time and try doing it yourself. My only thought on this is that you wouldn't hire a plumber to fix a problem with your car.

When all is said and done, good Search Engine Optimisation will get your website results. It is important to make sure you are making the right decisions in your online marketing as this may well be the lifeblood of your business and is certainly an effective way to promote your business and generate sales leads.

It's the Market for the Investor

By: Mostafa ElAwady

Today in the aftermath of the housing bubble, people who had bought property in the height of a strong economy are now finding it hard to keep their homes and are nearing foreclosure. This can cause what is called a “short sale”, for investors this is a good time with an educated agent to buy properties, Sellers can be found in a bailout situation, in other words a homeowner can no longer keep their mortgage payments up because of financial reasons and need to sell their properties quickly before they are foreclosed on by their lender and willing to sell at a fair price. This not only is to the advantage of the investor, but interest rates might be lower, to a qualified buyer, than they were when the property was purchased in a bubble market. This means in today’s market the price they had bought at is now debt higher than the value of the house. A wise investor knows that to buy in the down slide of a bubble market they need Antonio that is aware of how to negotiate the depreciation of a property value and work to the investors gain.

Foreclosure is also seen in the market today and while sad for the homeowner Antonio can find properties at the right price and at a greater value than the asking price to the benefit of the investor. Lenders are interested in being paid back and avoid foreclosing and take less than the amount of the original loan, this makes a foreclosed property one that is a low risk investment find the right agent, the lender may forgive a loan on a home, however this loan might not be the only one encumbering the property, therefore you should rely on a Realtor.

Another type of investing, our website offer is to pool funds with other buyers lowering the risks of investing. By doing this you can find a more attractive properties that will have a higher resell value at the time the partners decide to put it on the market. This type of investments are backed by extensive searches from Antonio itself and always guaranteed by a deed, or other instruments another benefit is that you can distribute your money into several investment. Funds will be legally contracted and deposited in the partnership to be created. Contracts, negotiations require a professional realtor that has experience in this field; an inexperienced agent can leave your investment unprotected. This is the reason why for an investor it is always a wise decision to use an Antonio web site that has tips and calculators to reduce risks and liabilities. Homes, villas and other Real estates properties are widely available in this market, and a wise investor should look into other countries, regions. You don’t shop only at one grocery store ….so make sure to check out Antonio’s International real estate properties.

Role of customer service in success of business

By: William King

Business success is dependent on a variety of factors – a realistic business idea, a well thought-out business plan, an appropriate marketing strategy and great customer service are amongst the top ones. While customer service is a part of marketing, it can be segregated as a separate field on its own. It’s important to define the term customer service before we proceed. Customer service includes all aspects of interaction with a customer and speaks to the organization’s image in the mind of a customer.

A customer provides an organization with that most organic of all advertising tools – word of mouth advertising. A happy and satisfied customer is much more likely to send more customers your way. Further, there is the potential for repeat business, which is the backbone of many businesses. It is obvious that a customer who has been provided with a product or service that he or she desired in the ideal way, would build a relationship with the seller.

Further customer relationship management teaches the business where there are flaws in the system and provides valuable customer feedback. When a business receives feedback, it is able to see the customer’s image of the organization and the impression of its services. This tool is invaluable in correcting systems as well as image management for the business. It is also an outsider’s perspective, which provides the business owner or management a unique insight.

Additionally, a satisfied customer would be more likely to participate in activities that help to generate customer preference data. This data goes back to the marketing function in assisting the organization to better target and attract it potential customers.

In fact, it would not be a stretch to say that without good customer service, a business would not survive. The old adage ‘The customer is always right’ has been the foundation of many an organization and what it really means is that keeping customers happy is the foremost principle of any business. The reason for the survival of many small businesses in a tough and competitive market is their ability to provide personalized customer service. It is the human touch that warms and enlivens an organization in the customer’s mind and goes towards building a relationship. This relationship is the basis of future growth for a business.

Regular and sustained interaction with a customer ensures that the customer feels connected with the business. For instance, a small pub owner who chats with his customers and knows them by name builds a relationship with them. Further, when he makes sure that their regular bartender makes their drinks and the food is fresh and hot, he is providing customer service. The customers have a good experience and feel that the establishment treated them well. Once an organization grows or goes online, there is less potential for this face-to-face interaction and then the business must find creative ways to ensure customer satisfaction.

The role of customer service to a business, online or offline, is essential to its growth and survival.

How to Avoid Online Investment Scams

By Lyna Murray

With the advent of the internet, online fraud and scams have become rampant as con artistes take their schemes from the real world world to the net. Technology has enabled scammers to create beautiful legitimate-looking investment websites, sometimes complete with graphs, a comprehensive affiliate program and investment management platform.

Do not be deceived by online investments schemes that offer returns that sound too good to be true. These types of scam usually lure people by asking them to invest a meager amount at first, usually $10. They are then told that for every dollar they invested, they will receive 10% - 30% return each month depending on the sum they invested.

Usually those who invest less than $1000 will only get 10% return per month but those who invest more will be given around 30%. Seeing the 10% return they get on the first month, some folks will actually put in more money by the second month. This is how the scammers lure people, they play on greed.

The website for these schemes also display online statistics of the 'earnings' and thus excites the victim to fork out even more money for the scheme. Of course, the main purpose of such scams is to get even more people into the trap so these schemes will pay referral fees to the victims, sometimes as much as $20 per referral.

This is where the online investment becomes a pyramid scheme, where you would be paid by just referring people to join. You are encouraged to create downlines and recruit even more people.

Of course, these kind of schemes usually break down after 6 to 12 months when too many people have joined and it may become too expensive to pay the referral fees or even the monthly returns.

Even if you do receive payment, investors are usually paid from money gotten off of the downlines. The most common trick would be to pay the investors for the first 3 months.

Remember, such schemes are not tied up to any real foreign exchange or investment market, though they may appear to be so. They are not authorized by any Bank, the websites are usually hosted on some foreign country and there are no proof to the earnings claimed on these sites. It is usually difficult to track them down as they use fake addresses and aliases.

The main aim of the investment website is to get as many people as possible to invest their money on the schemes. Once the scammers have all the money they want, they will usually shut down their investment website and run off with the investor's money.

In the end, the victims are left high and dry, wondering what happened to their online investments.

Submitting Websites to Directories

By: James Marshall

Submitting your website to the various online directories is an important part of any Link Popularity campaign. While your traffic from many directories may be minor or irrelevant, relevant incoming links to your website will help in your overall search engine link popularity.

Paying for your directory submission can be a waste of money. You can get just as good a result from submitting to free directories. Personally, I wouldn't recommend you pay for what you can get free elsewhere.

The best directories to submit your site to are Search Engine Friendly directories (those that actually have your site URL listed at some point, rather than outlinks that are simply code). Some will ask for a reciprocal link, some will not. One list of non-reciprocal directories is at http://www.Pimp-Url.com . Opinion at the moment is suggesting that non-reciprocal or one-way links are better, although any relevant link is useful. Directories that do not encode outgoing links will help your website's Search Engine Ranking.

Deep Linking can be worth linking to other pages on your site other than your main page. Before doing this, make sure that the directory you are submitting to permits you to both submit URLs other than your home page (some only allow top level submission), and for the same site to be submitted to different categories (not all directories permit what are essentially multiple submissions of the same website). This will work especially if you have online tools or directories (such as your links page) on your site that are useful and relevant to add to other directory categories. Choose the relevant directory category for your website. Most directories will have many categories you can submit your site to. Decide on the one that is most relevant, preferably a keyword that you are aiming for high search engine ranking in, and try to submit to the same or similar category in every directory, at least for your main page. This will increase the ranking of your site relating to the keyword chosen.

Submit to different categories as long as your website is relevant to those categories. This will increase the number of incoming links to your website. Writing the title for your website is very important. Try to include a keyword you are aiming for ranking in the title, but make the use of it appropriate. Describe your website in a way that will attract visitors. The length of your description will vary from directory to directory, but most will be under 250 characters. Some will allow up to 1,000 characters, and in those cases write the most comprehensive description of your site and its features that you can. It is a good idea to write several descriptions of different lengths, say from under 50 characters for a brief overview, to around 150 characters for a fuller description, up to 250 characters for a yet more comprehensive listing, and finally a full description as previously mentioned for over 250 characters. Keep your listing pertinent to your website, insert keywords where relevant and appropriate, but do not just submit a keyword listing, as most directories will reject your submission. Save all your descriptions in a text file, and just copy & paste into the descriptions boxes when needed rather than typing the same descriptions out again and again.

Again, as with the description mentioned above, the amount of keywords you can use will vary from directory to directory. Some will not give the option, some will allow you numbers of keywords, whilst others go by numbers of characters. Make a list of all relevant keywords for your site, from most important to least, and basically keep adding keywords until either you get to the bottom of your list (unlikely unless your list is really short) or you run out allowed characters/keywords. Check what keywords your competitors are going for if you need inspiration. This can often be done by viewing the source of a web page and checking the META tags. Again, save your keywords to a text file.

Marketing On The Internet Is A Challenge

By: Andy Tao

Since the Internet has become a part of our daily lives, we are also using this medium for marketing. It could be marketing for any type of business, and this is the preferred way today. No matter what size the business is, marketing on the Internet has proved to be a very successful way. In a few months you will see a big boom in business. But it is not as easy as you think.

First you will have to hire the right marketing company, and they must know the industry secrets. Besides this they must also keep the client aware about what they are doing. There are lots of ways to market through this medium as well. There will be the options of using search engines, and posting on directories and blogs etc. Whatever the methods are a target audience must be kept in place.

If the target audience is known, marketing becomes much easier. You will know for sure that a great percentage is going to look for the service or product. Consistency is very important with marketing this way. This is because there are thousands of people trying to get the hot spot, and they will be from the same industry. It will however take a few months to get a good foothold in the circle.

Once you get noticed, you should remember that you might need to spend a lot of time and effort staying where you are. Having a good site will help a great deal. Initially while starting off, you must always evaluate the size of the business. Depending on this you can decide how much you need to spend on marketing through this medium. It is also a wise idea not to try and market you. You may not be familiar with the trade tricks.

7 Things Every Trader and Investor Should Know About the Market, But Usually Doesn

By: Marcel Joseph Leahu-11778

Anytime that you make a trade in the market, you need to know what you're up against. Knowing the following seven points will not only help you in your trades, it will put you in the right frame of mind in order to be successful trader for the long term, which is what we all desire, and what really counts.

1. Don't Throw Good Money After Bad - If you've got a losing stock, don't make excuses or say things like "now it's really become a bargain" or "it can only go up from here." Those arefamous last words. If you own an underperforming stock, sell it - today! Don't wait, and certainly do not add to your shares of that stock. That is a recipe for full-blown disaster. There's a reason that the stock you own is underperforming. That reason may not be obvious to you now, but eventually the reasons will come out. Your money can be put to much better use buying a stock that is in an uptrend and can make you money right now (see point #2).

2. Don't Buy Low and Sell High - We've heard this phrase all of our lives: "buy low and sell high." You can't go wrong with that advice, right? Actually, that's wrong, because buying low implies buying a stock that has been on a losing streak, or one that is underperforming. Those are usually the worst kind of stocks to buy. The best stocks to buy are those that have firmly established a definite uptrend. So a more appropriate phrase might be, "buy high and sell higher." Another piece of advice that goes along with this is as follows: don't try to pick the bottom. Let someone else try to figure out what the bottom is. It could be that the stock has a few more weeks to go before it completely bottoms out. No use wasting your money guessing on where that point might be.

3. Don't Swing for the Fences - Everyone wants to hit a home run once in a while, but making that your primary trading aim means you are risking your capital and your sanity. The only way to have long-term success in your trading career is by taking many small gains instead of a few big gains. Home runs are few and far between. They are a nice bonus when they happen, but don't expectthem every time. If a stock has made you some gains, take them. Don't get greedy or expect a doubling or tripling in price, because you could end up losing what you have already gained, and sometimes a lot more. Take your profits, and move on to the next stock.

4. Know the Best Times of the Day to Trade - The best times of the trading day are the opening and the closing. More specifically, these times are the first hour and a half (9:30 to 11:00 am) and the last hour and a half (2:30 to 4:00 pm) that the stock market is open. That is when there is the most price movement and the highest volume. This is also why the opening and closing price quotes are used in mapping out stock charts. The volume around midday generally dies down quite a bit for one major reason: too many traders, especially the big institutional players (the ones who can noticeably move the market) are out to lunch. Some may take earlier lunches, and some may take later lunches, but there are always big players who have gone to lunch during this time. The people who they have left in charge are usually younger associates with less experience who don't have much say in decision-making. So it's best to avoid both buying and selling during this period of the day, as any price movements could be false signals or fake-outs.

5. Do Not Buy or Sell Before the Market Open - Buying or selling a stock before the open (8:00-9:30 am), in what is known as a pre-market trade, is usually not recommended. During the pre-market period, there is a considerable lack of volume. As a result, a few small traders can quickly bid up the price of a stockto a fever pitch. If you try to buy this stock during this time, it will usually come back down after the market opens. Conversely, if you try to sell a stock pre-market, often times you would have sold for a better price if you have waited a minute or two (or five) after the opening bell. Because of the lack of volume, along with a real dearth of institutional investors, it's best to avoid pre-market trades altogether.

6. Sometimes No Trade is the Best Trade - When markets are falling and volatility is running rampant, staying "on the sidelines" in an all-cash position is often the best policy. Now it's true that opportunities do arise when market volatility starts going crazy, but this is not the time to be a hero. Wait out the storm. When there is blood in the streets, stay out of the way of the stampeding masses. Once the market sorts itself out, and volatility dies down, it becomes safe to get back in the market. That is also why you should never feel bad about getting your stops hit (getting "stopped out" of a trade). Those stops, which often indicate small losses, save you from much bigger losses later on, bigger losses which can stop you from trading altogether. In fact, what may appear as a small loss at first, may actually be a "gain" in your favor; for example, if you sell a stock for a $1 loss, but the stock then continues to lose another $5, you should not consider that trade as a loss.

7. Is Paying for Advice Advisable? - If you are not getting the results you hoped for in your trading, should you get professional assistance? Being human beings, we are all susceptible to the ebb and flow of our emotional states. One of the hardest things to do is to disengage your emotions when trading, whether those emotions involve fear (when your stocks are falling) or greed (when yourstocks are rising), or just the everyday emotions that stem from your personal life. If you can find a trusted and reliable stock-picking advisor, you are then able to bypass a lot of your own emotional baggage, and follow the lead of someone who is experienced in the discipline of trading. But be careful: Free advice is usually worth what you pay for it. However, you shouldn't have to pay thousands of dollars, either. Also, be wary of stockbrokers who are trying to sell you a sure thing: usually, it's stock that their company bought, and now must get rid of. Find someone who has a good track record, and is willing to back up their claims of success. (Brought to you by http://www.rocketstockreport.com/)

Sales Through Storytelling: Story Tell, Story Sell

By: Craig Harrison-13763

According to an old French proverb: "Nothing succeeds like success!" And in sales nothing succeeds quite like success stories. Are you sharing yours? Why not? The secret is in how you share your successes.

Learn to tell thirty-second "success stories." During sales calls or even a casual conversation a quick-hitting story can make or reinforce a point in memorable fashion. Success stories may be told in response to a question, to serve as a testimonial, or even as an aside. Did you know you had a storied past?

Stories work for several reasons: they're more memorable than numbers, names and dates; and listeners enjoy the drama: a problem followed by a solution, a mystery solved with a twist, or a creative workaround to a seemingly insurmountable obstacle. Also, your listener can find him or herself in the story. A good story will resonate with prospects.

"We're wired for stories, individually and collectively. Since the time of Odysseus we've been told stories. Since we were little kids we've been read and told stories. This is how we’ve been conditioned to learn; our morals and our values are taught through stories." So says Gay Ducey, past president of the National Storytelling Network.

Look at your sales history and pick out an accomplishment. Now tell the story behind the accomplishment. It states that you helped a past client increased sales 60%. But tell how you did it; Cite a "before vs. after" description. What was the secret? Stories that reveal secrets captivate.

The Three S's of Success Stories

Success stories offer a setting, a situation and a solution. Remember, you're the hero of your stories. Your decisions, actions and insights made the difference.

Here is an example:

"We recently received a call from a merchant unhappy with their current vendor. They were paying high fees, receiving poor service and experiencing frequent security breaches. In short order we were able to launch a wireless processing system that was more secure, more reliable and even less expensive. Through customization we were able to address their foreign and domestic needs, a strength of ours."

Not only does this success story demonstrate an independent sales organization's ability to solve problems, it showcases an understanding of business, markets and methods.

Stories can demonstrate your professionalism, customer service, researching ability, creativity, problem-solving inclination or other strengths.

Consider this story for a job-seeker:

Here is an example of how one candidate summarized his most recent employment for a competitor

"In my last job I was hired to manage a production department at war with the editorial department. I walked into an environment full of distrust and resentment, built up over years of animosities and recriminations. Through my implementation of cross training between departments, initiation of mutual social outings such as picnics and scheduling of project post-mortems we were able, after 6 months, to convert resentment into understanding and competition into cooperation. As each department began to understand how the other one worked we were jointly able to improve the workflow and consequently shorten time to market with publications. Even quality improved as we better understood how best to work together. That showed me the importance of internal communication and how hard it can be, though not impossible, to change an existing culture."

Not only does this success story demonstrate the candidate's ability to solve problems, but it shows interviewers the candidate's understanding of interoffice politics and the human side of operations.

Stories can demonstrate your detail orientation, dedication, leadership, independence, researching ability, creativity, serice or problem-solving inclination. Remember that employers want well rounded hires so make sure they see evidence of your varied skill set. Here are a few examples for salespeople, managers, job seekers and others:

• Your conversion of old equipment into new uses shows you can think outside the box and are resourceful.

• The non-monetary ways you recognized your staff shows your creativity, abilities as a leader as you demonstrate your understanding of how to motivate others.

• The weekly internal E-letter you created for employees not only boosted morale, it gave evidence of your strong communication skills.

Why I'm NOT "The King Of Pay Per Clicks"

By: Willie Crawford

Back in the Spring of 2003, I was at Joel Christopher's Master List Builder Workshop. Marlon Sanders was up speaking. We had never formally met, but Marlon had obviously read some of the things that I'd written on using pay per click advertising.

Back then, I was heavily into pay per click advertising, and had even done TWO teleseminars with my friend Marty Foley on the topic. We called the teleseminars "Master The Pay Per Clicks." We recorded the teleseminars and sold those recordings for a long time.

I still use the recordings from those teleseminars a few places because much of the information is timeless. Marty and I taught a lot of testing and tracking. What has changed most since then is primarily the rules and policies at the pay per clicks... and which search engines are the most important. We taught solid basics back then, and they still work.

Anyway, as Marlon was doing his presentation, he spotted me in the audience, and used what I did as a simple, proven model of generating a steady flow of traffic to your website and converting it to sales.

Back then, for every $1 that I invested in pay per click traffic, I generated $7 in profit. Not a bad return on investment!

Marlon referred to me as "The King Of Pay Per Clicks" and asked me a few basic questions. I answered them, and Marlon proved his points. Actually, one of the points that I heard Marlon make that day was "Whatever they're buying, I'm Selling!" The lesson that I learned from Marlon there was, sell the items that your customers are looking for rather than what you'd like to sell them.

In that same presentation, Marlon yelled, "Dead Ducks Don't Quack!" I understood his message there to be, if people aren't buying a product, then stop wasting your time and effort trying to sell it to them. People KNOW what they want.

Just those two statements made that entire weekend worth the 13-hour drive from Florida to San Antonio. I drove because I wanted to use the drive time as time to listen to a course that I had recently purchased. I did listen to the audio tapes in that course all the way to, and from, San Antonio... completely absorbing the course in the process.

I absorbed and later applied what Marlon taught during that fateful presentation. I applied what I learned during that time spent in "Automobile U" ... the 26 hours driving back and forth between San Antonio. Both learning experiences shifted my think in major ways.

Later that year, Ramon Williamson coached me and provided me with a lot of much needed direction. When I mentioned to him that Marlon had dubbed me as "The King Of Pay Per Clicks," he asked if I really wanted to be "pigeon holed" by that title.

Ramon asked me to clarify what "I" wanted to be known for on the Internet marketing landscape. Back then, I decided that I really wanted to be a coach and a mentor. That's what I still get the greatest joy from doing online.

So, while I did leverage the fact that an "Internet marketing icon" had dubbed me "The King Of Pay Per Clicks," I also took Ramon's advice to heart and distanced myself from the label.

Today, as back then, I realize that without traffic to your website, your web business CANNOT be successful. You simply need visitors to a webpage who, upon arriving, take the desired action.

Since the need for website traffic is so CRITICAL, back in 2003 I purchased the domain name "Website Traffic PhD." I had no idea what I was going to do with that domain, but I KNEW that not having enough website traffic was what "pained" most webmasters, and that if I could show them how to get an unlimited stream of website traffic, I had a product that they would trip over themselves to get.

Marty Foley and I did discuss creating a joint product that would be an "encyclopedia" of proven methods of generating website traffic. Perhaps because I still hadn't learned enough back then, I didn't tackle a job that I didn't feel totally qualified for.

I did nothing with that domain, and even allowed the name to expire, but later re-registered it.

Back in December 2002, I first met John Reese at a seminar at Hawks Cay, down in The Florida Keys. That was at the same seminar where I first met Ramon Williamson and Marty Foley. Ramon, Marty and I all gave presentations. As time progressed, I got to know John better, and he and Ramon attended the very first seminar that I hosted. Ramon spoke, and John totally riveted attendees during conversations held in the back of the room during breaks (and at meals).

John demonstrated his marketing savvy when in March of 2004, he conducted his sell-out, $4500 per seat, seminar on website traffic tactics. John leveraged that seminar into his Traffic Secrets Course, which made him $1 million in under a DAY!

John validated for me that REALLY studying traffic generation, and then teaching others how to generate website traffics was an excellent use of my time.

Between 1996 and today (11 years) I have studied just about every website traffic generation tactic imaginable. Over time, I learned which ones worked consistently "for me" (long-term) and which ones required the least expense and effort.

Today, after sifting through what must be over 100 possible traffic generation tactics, I have just a few core tactics that I use and teach. I even have my "Top 10 Best Free Traffic Generation Techniques." Those are THE techniques that worked for me yesterday, and will work for me tomorrow, without my having to struggle staying up with the latest search engine tricks.

I'd rather go fishing, or spend time playing with my grandchild, than spend countless hours chasing after the latest, usually very short-lived, search engine tricks. This strategy is so powerful, that on one site that I recently setup and promoted using my "Top 10 Free Traffic Generation Techniques" I generated over 1 million visitors in under 60 days. Needless to say, the site is a success, and will earn me a nice income stream for a very long time.

I like that model... build a website, plug in free traffic, make minor adjustments, and let the site make you money :-)

In case you missed why I'm no longer "The King Of Pay Per Clicks," it's because it takes too much struggle! I prefer the long-term, very effective traffic generation tactics that I share with friends at: http://x-factortraffic.com/

When something works, why change it. When something isn't working, it's insane NOT to change it. Just that simple observation, properly responded to, will make you an online success. Now, it's time for you to do it!

Five Free Steps to Earn an Income Onlin

By: Matt Helphrey

If you are looking to earn income online, you've come to the right place. The internet offers us many opportunities to make a living without spending our life savings on business costs. In fact, follow these five easy steps and you wont have to spend any money at all.

Step 1) This one may seem obvious but it is crucial to your success...you need a computer and an internet connection. I suggest you get yourself a dependable laptop and wireless connection if possible. You can usually find some pretty good refurbished laptops in the classified section of your local paper. If you really can't afford a computer or internet connection, visit your local library or school computer. Where theres a will, theres a way.

Step 2) Enroll yourself in some affiliate programs. There are many affiliates out there that provide you all the training and products you need to succeed. Try to enroll in multiple programs so you can increase your income potential and give yourself the greatest chance for success.

Step 3) Get your own place on the web. All you have to do is sign up for a free blog or find yourself your own unique domain name i.e. home website. The reason for this is you want to be able to list all your affiliates in the same place. It makes it more simple for your customers and for you to be able to track where your potential customers are coming from. More on this is step 4.

Step 4) You must create traffic. This is essential to earn an income online. There are numerous ways to do this. The training from the affiliate programs will teach you various techniques, most of which will cost you nothing more than the time you invest. It takes a while to build traffic and to convert that traffic into sales. This is NOT a get rich quick scheme, but you CAN get rich over time.

Step 5) Take the checks out of the mail box, sign your name on the back, and cash or deposit them at your local bank. Thats it!

Of course there are many roads to success on the internet. Many people are using these five steps to earn an income on the internet. Some people think you have to spend massive amounts of money to market or hire outsourcing. You don't need money to make money online. Follow these steps and you won't have to spend any money at all. There are affiliate programs, blogs, and ways to create traffic that are 100% free. All that is required of you is a strong desire to learn and succeed. If you have these intangibles, there are no limits to what you can achieve.

The Art Of Selecting Keywords For Your Small Business Website

By: Aubrey Jones

One of the most important aspects of search engine optimization (SEO) is the proper selection of keywords or key phrases. Keywords are the terms that searchers enter when using search engines like Google or Yahoo. For instance, a user looking for someone to help them build a small business website might enter terms like ‘website design’ or ‘small business website’ into the search box. The search engines use those terms to find ‘relevant’ web pages.

What makes a page relevant to any particular search is the topic of another discussion, but it is clear that the presence of related keywords on a webpage create a high degree of relevance. So in the search for help building a small business website, search engines will be looking for web pages that contain the specific search terms as well as other information that is relevant to the same term.

Selecting the proper keywords for your website is crucial to making sure your pages are returned when searchers are looking for the products, services or information you are providing. While there is certainly a lot of information available about how to select keywords, in reality, keyword selection is as much art as it is science. It is a mix of ratios, search probabilities and good detective work to figure out what searches will be looking for, and how the search engines will relate you webpage to their searches.

In general, you can think of keywords as mini ads for your website. Make you ads to generic and searches, and search engines, may overlook the specific thing they are searching for. You can think of keywords as falling into three basic categories: Niche, Primary and Secondary.

Niche keywords are very specific and may result in a low volume of searches but a higher listing in search results. For instance, a site that sells SEO services may focus on the keyword phrase ‘increase ExactSeek page rank.’ For searchers who are knowledgeable enough to understand this term and are targeting the ExactSeek search engine there is a high chance your site will show up in a search for ‘Increase my page rank on ExactSeek.’ However, there will be less people searching for this phrase then say, ‘get better search engine rankings’ or ‘get better search results on Yahoo.’ The up side with niche keywords is that there is less competition for the keyword.

Primary keywords are those that appear to be a good balance between volume of search and competitive use. These are the words you should consider focusing your SEO efforts on. These words have good amounts of search volume because they are relatively generic, however they are a good match for your website’s content. These keywords do have competitors, but there is likely enough search volume to generate traffic for your site. A page optimized on the keyword ‘non-profit website design’ would be relevant to a good number of related searches but would have less competition than a page optimized for ‘website design.’

Secondary keywords provide a good volume of searches but have a higher level of competitors. An example is ‘website design.’ While there are lots of people searching for ‘website design’ there are millions and millions of competitors. Secondary keywords should not be ignored because of the potential volume, however, trying to optimize for such a generic term without other primary or niche keywords will likely not lead to much traffic.

In summary, ideal keywords receive a reasonable number of searches in major or niche search engines, are relevant to your site’s content and are not heavily used by competitors. Keywords that have below average search volumes still may be excellent choices because they may be very relevant to your specific content and have limited competitors. Select multiple keywords for your site and consider using unique keywords for each page if the content is different.

Search engine optimization (SEO) has become a necessity for websites

Search engine optimization (SEO) has become a necessity for websites looking to increase their market penetration. What makes search engine optimization such a challenging field is that search engines are making changes to their search algorithms on a regular basis. It takes considerable skill for any SEO firm to stay in tune with the latest SEO developments. If you are looking to increase the popularity of your website and want to hire a SEO firm to take care of the search engine optimization of your site, here are a few tips to help you choose a SEO firm.

One of the most important aspects of SEO is optimizing content, major search engines like Google and Yahoo are basically content centric. This means a website without optimized content stands a very poor chance of performing well with major search engines. The first thing you should look for in a SEO firm is if it is capable of offering content writing services for SEO. Almost all major SEO firms now offer content centric services like web content writing. Apart from optimizing content, it is also important to look for a SEO firm that can utilize other content centric avenues like article writing and press release writing.

Another thing to keep in mind while choosing a SEO firm is the services that are on offer. It pays to work with a SEO firm that can offer a complete portfolio of services from link building to specialized web designing services. SEO firms offer a wide variety of link building packages, depending on the page rank you are targeting you should be able to choose the link building package you want. If you are using a SEO firm for carrying out SEO of your site from the ground up, then the SEO firm will automatically choose the link building package your site needs.

It is also important to look at the credentials of the firm you are dealing with, most SEO firms make tall claims but have very little to back up their claims. Before you choose a SEO firm ask them for a website they have optimized, most SEO firms will show you a website they have optimized and the keywords for which it is ranking. In addition, also look at the ranking of the website of the SEO firm itself. If the SEO firm’s website is ranking well for popular keywords you can rest assured that your website’s optimization is in good hands.

Another important aspect to keep in mind is how up to date the services on offer are, if you have no idea which services to look for then a good indicator are services like XHTML validation and XHTML slice. In essence, what you are looking for is a SEO firm that can offer you as many or as few services as you require. In addition, a SEO firm should provide the latest search engine optimizations services in conjunction with tried and trusted search engine optimization services.

Finally, it is important to understand your own requirements before you hire a SEO firm. Most webmasters know what they are looking for and know which keywords they would like to rank for. It is important to have a list of keywords you want your website to rank for, it is equally important to understand that not all keywords are viable. For example, there is no point in optimizing a website for the keyword ‘water’ as beating wikipedia is not an easy task. It is important to be in constant contact with the SEO firm so you can better understand how the firm is working and what steps are being taken to improve your site’s ranking. Also be wary of SEO firms that offer overnight success.

Tips For Building An Effective Affiliate Marketing Website

By Joe Stewart

There are several ways that you can build an affiliate marketing web site and get traffic to it also, it's simply a matter of learning what to do and putting it into motion. How you go about building your website is going to be based upon your personal knowledge and skill level. There are different methods of building an affiliate website that you can choose from such as Dreamweaver, Frontpage, Blogs or other html editors. You don't need to know a lot of html by using an html editor, however, I do recommend that you learn at least some html basics. This will save you a lot of grief down the road, especially if you outsource your website building to someone else and then want to make a small change to the site down the road. If you know a bit of html then you can just take care of the update yourself, otherwise you're at someone elses mercy.

Another thing that you'll need to consider that is VERY important on your affiliate marketing web site is the written copy. There is a right way and a wrong way to write website copy and it's very important that you either learn to do this yourself or hire someone else to do it for you that has a lot of experience in this area. You see, the words and appearance oof your website are going to be two major factors of whether people buy from you or not. Would you take the recommendation of a website that had an ugly color scheme and didn't provide you with the product information that you were looking for? I highly doubt it and neither will your visitors. Make your affiliate marketing web site look professional, only put things on each page that are relevent to the topic and make it easy to navigate.

If you're not sure how to go about buildinf a professional looking affiliate marketing web site or have no idea about website copy or search engine optimization, these are all things that you can hire out and have others do for you. It's not cheap, but sometimes it's best to pay for things and get your affiliate marketing web site done right the first time so you can start making money.

Create Website Publicity Buzz

Having a website is an important element of your public relations mix but it needs to be working for you. What else can you do to get people to click on your site? Well you could incorporate some PR activities around your site. Public relations is essentially communication, letting people know what your do, why you do it and how you make a difference.

One aspect of PR is publicity. Creating word of mouth interest in your business by getting free editorial coverage of your business in the media.

Publicity stories in the media are very effective but you won't get one for your website unless you have a new idea, controversial story, sensational aspect to your website, something unusual or completely different. Get the idea? Some story ideas: are you the first to use this technology? Have you made a huge sale through your website? Does your website help or benefit people in any way? Are you running a unique online competition or survey? Have you a heart-warming personal story to tell? My point is that you need to have a point.

Let me give you an example of publicity that was designed specifically to attract people to a particular website.

There's an online travel company Zuji.com.au and what they did was implement a publicity campaign to drive traffic to their website. It was a simple idea really. They put together on online competition asking people to write in their travel secrets of their favourite destinations throughout the world and they could win a valuable travel prize. They told the media about it and although a simple idea it captured the attention of the travel media.

Consequently the media promoted the competition quite heavily resulting in heaps of visitors to the Zuji website. And of course it involved real people telling their own stories so the human interest element worked. It worked brilliantly for the company. Firstly they were successful in getting lots of free publicity from the competition and they also collected the email addresses of all of the people that visited their website. Plus they captured some really interesting stories and content to put on their site. So an online competition works well but you do need tell the media about it. Once you've developed a good newsworthy story you'll need to contact the relevant journalists who will help you reach your target market. Don't contact everyone, just the media that are appropriate to you and your product.

Contact them by sending a media release (it of course includes your website address) or just telephone them. Research your target media by checking out the newspapers, magazines and wherever else your competitors are being featured. You can buy media directories.

Don't forget to let journalists know there is a media room on your website where they can obtain further information.

Another way to publicise your website is to put your domain address everywhere. Anytime you do send out a media release or newsletter or write a letter to a potential client or sponsor an event, not only is it really important to put your name on everything but put your website address there as well. So for instance you might have some fantastic caps or t-shirts designed for your business that you want people to wear that look great and effective and but why not on the back of that cap put your domain name. Every where that you communicate, put your web address. Include on your voice mail, stickers, business cards, your car, caps, t-shirts on everything!
